The World of Podcast
WOW! Podcast looks like an exciting way to make good use of digital audio recording. I'm a musician, arranger, composer, and I have used Finale, Cakewalk, Cubase, Home Studio and other audio digital recording programs and equipment down through the years. Podcasting is the most inexpensive way of getting your creations and material published. This is a great tool to use in the class room to motivate your class to want to learn. I was just talking to my students today about uploading music to our class room SCORE site and them downloading our concert songs to their IPODS so they can practice at home. Chapter 8 in Richardson's book, "Blogs, Wikis, Podcasts, made mention of several ideas of using Podcasts in music. You can even do a music crtic show. The possibilites are enormous whether in a music class or other classes. Podcasts really have stepped up the Read/Write Web process.

Hi Leon,
ReplyDeleteThis is my third time trying to post to your blog. I don't know what is wrong...so if you end up with 3 messages saying about the same thing you will know why. I think your idea about having chorus students download the music they need to learn into their ipods is a great one. I think that it would even benefit 5th and 6th graders as well.
Thanks Sherri it really helps them to learn their music while they do something they really enjoy during.
ReplyDeleteI like the idea of using podcasting for practicing. My sons use Smart Music in conjunction with practicing their trumpets. I just thought I should audio record them playing and let them download it to their I-pod or MP3 player to play for their teacher for his input and help before the solo and ensemble festival. If nothing else they can listen on the bus and practice fingering in their heads ...
